Lucid Bots, a Charlotte, N.C.-based robotics company that started with window-cleaning drones, has secured $9.1 million in Series A funding to expand its portfolio of autonomous cleaning robots. The company, which was part of Y Combinator's 2019 cohort, aims to build intelligent, purpose-made robots to tackle the 'dirty' jobs that people don't want to do. Lucid Bots' Sherpa line of drones, initially designed for cleaning windows in tall places, has evolved to take on more labor-intensive tasks. Customers requested the ability to clean flat surfaces like sidewalks and driveways, prompting the company to develop the Lavo Bot, a pressure-washing robot. The company's edge lies in its ability to fly cleaning drones within regulations in urban and suburban environments, spaces where delivery drones can't even test today. Lucid Bots achieved over $3.5 million in revenue in 2023 and has been growing exponentially for the past three years. With the new funding, led by Cubit Capital and joined by Idea Fund Partners, Danu Venture Group, and existing investors, Lucid Bots plans to advance its portfolio of autonomous robotics, scale operations, and leverage its AI-driven software and sensor platform to expand into new markets. The company's differentiated capabilities, strong revenue growth, and proven team have instilled confidence in its ability to win in this exciting, growing market.
